Fresh From The Farm: December 2020 Recap
Welkom Vrienden!
(welcome friends)
With all the craziness that this year has brought, I don’t think we’re alone in saying we’re ready for 2020 to come to an end. We learned a lot this year and faced many challenges, like many of you have. It was a trying year to say the least but we’re thankful for each one of you who took the time to show us support. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to continue to do what we love. We wanted to share some highlights that stick out in our minds over the last twelve months. Looking back, it’s hard to believe it’s all been the same year!
We started selling flowers online
The COVID pandemic hit many businesses hard, and we were no exception. The timing couldn’t have been worse for us, as our biggest event of the year, our u-pick tulip season was set to start in early April. Once we learned that we wouldn’t be able to operate in the same capacity, we switched to selling our tulips online for the very first time. We were overwhelmed by the amount of people who either bought flowers for themselves, friends, family and even frontline workers. It was truly a bright spot in our year during a time when things seemed so dark.
When you’re forced to adapt and do things out of the ordinary, it sometimes leads to something incredible. Selling flowers online made us realize that this is something we should do more of in the future. It was amazing to see so many of you share your bouquets with us and see how much happiness and joy they were able to spread. Since so many businesses moved online we did run into some delivery issues. We’ve been working hard the rest of the year to find the best and most reliable way to deliver our flowers to your door once again.
We had our best u-pick sunflower season yet!
Considering how New Jersey COVID cases have been on the rise lately, we’re so grateful that we were able to hold our u-pick sunflower season in September and October. We were unsure of how this season would play out, considering the regulations we had to follow and the circumstances surrounding it. We were so happy to welcome you back to the farm and were honestly overjoyed with the amount of people who wanted to come out and show their support. It was so refreshing to be able to get back to our roots and see the smiles and hear the laughter we missed so much in the fall. The sunflower season was such a good break from the chaos in the year, it was a time to get some fresh air and create long lasting memories with your friends and family.

We started prep for u-pick tulips
If we learned one thing this year, it’s that anything can happen. Though a lot of uncertainty still remains, we choose to push forward with our usual u-pick tulip plans. No matter what takes place, we know one thing for sure, we will always be eager to share our tulips with all of you. We finished planting our tulip bulbs last month and let us tell you something – it’s going to be magnificent! We went ahead and planted more bulbs than we ever have before. Come springtime our fields will be flooded with millions of rainbow tulips just waiting to be picked and enjoyed by all of you.
Let’s get ready for…⚠️
If you would have told us this time last year all that would have unfolded, we would have never believed you! 2020 taught us to be grateful and appreciate the things that matter most in the world- our friends, family and loved ones. It was certainly unexpected, but we still had moments of good amongst all the bad. Above all else, our new year’s wish for all of you is that 2021 brings health and happiness and a restored sense of peace to everyone. Happy Holidays!
