Fresh From the Farm: August 2020 Recap
Welkom Vrienden!
(Welcome Friends!)
Can you believe it’s already been a month since our last newsletter? Though it seems cliché, time really does fly when you’re having fun! August has traditionally proven to be a busy month for us, and it was no different this year. With our 3rd annual u-pick sunflower season is vastly approaching, now is always an exciting time for Holland Ridge Farms. As we start to see the anticipation build in our staff and visitors, we’re reminded how lucky we are to be able to continue to do what we love the most. Take a look below at some of the things that went on at Holland Ridge Farms this month.
Curbside and delivery sunflowers
After the success of our tulip delivery and curbside pickup in the spring, we decided to open up the same for sunflowers. A few weeks ago, we officially launched our sunflower delivery program. We were so excited to finally deliver our farm fresh sunflowers right to your door. Once we started shipping however, we quickly realized there would be a few bumps in the road. Since many shipping carriers are overwhelmed, we saw firsthand how delivery delays can affect the quality of our sunflowers. If there wasn’t a way to guarantee a fresh delivery every time, then we had to go back to the drawing board. Our goal is to always ensure your flowers are as fresh in your home as they are out in the farm. We hope that once some of the dust has settled, we will be able to open back up for delivery once more.
We also offered curbside pickup which actually went well but requires a lot of man power to get ready. So for now we have decided to just focus on our u-pick season which opens very soon.
We Can’t Wait to Watch U-pick!
Good news, we officially finished planting this month! That means we’re now forced to do the hardest part… waiting. After many long days and summer nights spent at the farm, we truly can’t wait for you to see all the color. We’ve planted more sunflowers than ever before, so get ready to see millions of beautiful blooms! We also planted many other mixed flowers, so you’ll be able to pick and create truly unique bouquets.
It seems like every day we’re at the farm, we’re able to see more and more progress. Based on the growth, we’ve predicted an opening date of Friday, September 25th . Once our season starts it runs anywhere from 3-5 weeks depending on weather and the condition of the flowers. We really do think it’s going to be the best one yet. Tickets will go on sale about two weeks prior to opening. This year it will be strictly online tickets only.
Our Team is Growing
To improve our customer experience we’ve decided to expand our team! We’ve recently hired a customer service representative to help us on and off the field. Our new team member will be able to dedicate more time to answering your comments and messages through Facebook, Instagram email and more. Once we’re on site during our u-pick season they will also be available to guide you in the right direction or address any concerns and questions you may have. We hope by doing so, our guests will receive a more personalized experience and feel all their needs are taken care of.
